Education changes

everything.

Education is a powerful driver of development and one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty and improving health, gender equality, peace, and stability.* And yet millions of our most vulnerable children do not have access to education.

Everyone can make a difference. You can too.

Why Education?

1 = 10

Every $1 invested in education

equals $10 in economic growth.

"No matter what it is that you want to combat: racism, the environment, economics, or healthcare – lack of education is at the root of that, and so Mona Foundation supports education all around the world." – Rainn Wilson

1 = 100

Educating 1 girl positively impacts the lives of 100 others over time.

Better educated women tend to be more informed about nutrition and healthcare, have fewer and healthier children, and marry at a later age. They are also more likely to earn higher incomes and put that money back into their families and communities.  All these factors combined can help lift households, communities, and countries out of poverty. I am not the problem.  I am the solution.

Launched in 2017 and located near the city of Sololá, the MAIA Impact School is Central America’s first female, Indigenous-led secondary school specifically designed to connect the talents of rural Indigenous young women with the opportunities of the 21st century. The school serves about 300 girls from 40 remote villages.
