Why Move4Mona?

Walkathons like Move4Mona are more than just events—they are a powerful way to turn collective action into real change. By walking together, we raise awareness about the barriers to education that millions of children face and help generate the funds needed to break those barriers.

Every step we take in Move4Mona symbolizes a student’s journey toward a brighter future. With every mile walked and every dollar raised, we provide scholarships, school supplies, and essential resources to children worldwide. It’s a simple yet impactful way to show solidarity, inspire our communities, and make education accessible to all.

Join us in moving for Mona—because when we move, we move education forward!

How your money will be used.

All proceeds from Move4Mona go to the education of students in need and girls empowerment programs.

Here are a few examples of the grassroots programs Mona Foundation supports.

One-room schools (GyanSetu), India

These schools provide out-of-school children in city slums and poor rural villages around Lucknow with access to education so they can catch up to their grade level and transition into the school system. Mona supports 139 one-room schools educating over 3,800 students. Watch the video to see the faces of students in these schools.

Ruhi Arbab and Simmons Schools, Colombia

Provides high quality K-12 education to children in rural and semi-urban areas. Most are of Afro-Colombian and mestizo descent from single-mother households. In addition to teaching academics, technology, and the arts, the schools offer spiritual/moral education that inspires students to be of service in their communities and promotes their personal and social transformation.

Hope Academy for Girls, Sierra Leone

A formal six year Junior and Senior Secondary School serving at-risk, low-income girls from five villages. It is the only girls’ educational institution on the south end of the peninsular in the Western Rural Area District of Sierra Leone. The school provides tuition-free, high quality, and holistic learning, giving girls the tools to achieve their highest potential.

A special thank you to our Edmonds Move4Mona event sponsors.
