Help bring education to every child around the world, especially girls.

When you educate girls, they spend 94% of their income in support of their families and help lift them out of poverty.  So whether you choose to give once or monthly as a Sponsor Hope member, know that your generosity will change lives and transform communities.

Support education for all.

Why Education?

1 = 10

Every $1 invested in education

equals $10 in economic growth.

In 2022, 696 million people will live on less than $1.90/day, 1.8 billion on less than $3.20/day, and 3.3 billion on less than $5.50/day. We are on a mission to change that.

We partner with local organizations to address the root causes of poverty by focusing on education and gender equality and promoting character training and service as a way of life for the "betterment of the world."

"No matter what it is that you want to combat: racism, the environment, economics, or healthcare – lack of education is at the root of that, and so Mona Foundation supports education all around the world." – Rainn Wilson

1 = 100

Educating 1 girl positively impacts the lives of 100 others over time.

Better educated women tend to be more informed about nutrition and healthcare, have fewer and healthier children, and marry at a later age. They are also more likely to earn higher incomes and put that money back into their families and communities.  All these factors combined can help lift households, communities, and countries out of poverty. Who is Mona?

Mona is our Malala, although Malala lived after the attempt on her life and Mona did not. Mona Mahmudnizhad was 17 years old when she was arrested and later executed in 1983 in Iran for her beliefs as a Baha’i and for teaching children’s classes. Mona loved children and began volunteering in an orphanage at the age of 12. She was also an outspoken defender of human rights and wrote a high school essay on “Freedom.” Because of her beliefs, her service to children, and her outspoken nature, Mona was arrested and later executed after nine months of imprisonment. Her youth, courage and commitment to education, service, and social justice inspired us to name the foundation after her.
