Priyanshi’s Story: Enabling digital learning for 45 children

Every girl on this planet should have equal opportunities to make her dreams a reality and shape her own destiny.” – Priyanshi

Priyanshi Prajapati is dedicated to educating the children in her village of Nabipanah on the outskirts of Lucknow, India. A graduate of the Prerna School for Girls, run by Mona partner Study Hall Educational Foundation, she began teaching at her village GyanSetu center (one-room school) after high school to earn money for college. The GyanSetu program, also run by SHEF, provides quality education to out-of-school children in urban slums and rural villages in and around Lucknow, India with the goal of transitioning them into a formal school program.

Now a college graduate, Priyanshi runs the center and continues to educate the children of her village, especially the girls who have had no access to formal learning. Despite the challenges of their daily lives, the children are curious and keen to learn. In June 2020, she was selected for SHEF’s Digital Saathi (partner) program and received a laptop to provide her eager students with access to online learning. She now teaches 45 children, including digital literacy classes for the young women & mothers in her village.
