The Foundation for the Application and Teaching of Science (FUNDAEC) works to empower individuals and communities, particularly in rural areas, through education and capacity-building. Its programs include Preparation for Social Action (PSA), which trains young people as promoters of community wellbeing through service in their own communities, and the Solidarity Fund, which provides scholarships for professional and technical training to young people, primarily women and those from rural and diverse ethnic communities.

Ángel's Story: Ángel, 23, lives in a rural community in San Andrés de Sotavento and has served as a tutor in FUNDAEC’s PSA program since 2024. Before he joined the Solidarity Fund, his family's financial situation limited their opportunities and made it difficult to pursue their goals.

Through the FUNDAEC Solidarity Fund program, Ángel strengthened his entrepreneurial skills and expanded his income opportunities. Today, he runs a small poultry business that helps support his university studies while also teaching classes for children.

Ángel is currently studying Agroindustrial Business Administration at CUN University and continues serving as a PSA tutor, where he develops his leadership skills and supports other students. His journey has also inspired others, with a PSA participant of his going on to start teaching children's classes and family members beginning their own productive and service projects, including opening a beauty salon.

Ángel hopes to complete his education, continue growing his business, and use his experience to create more opportunities for others in his community.
