2021 Gala Results - Many drops make an ocean

Sept 23, 2021 - WE ARE THRILLED to share that we exceeded our 2021 Gala fundraising goal, and raised more than $400K (net) and counting! Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to each one of our supporters who gave with their hearts to support our work. It takes all of us working together -- individuals, nonprofits, and businesses, in partnership with grassroots organizations -- to alleviate global poverty through education and gender equality.

Our gratitude also goes to our hardworking and selfless partners, and to Rainn WilsonAndy GrammerSplinter Dance Company, and Anthony Fedorov & friends who made the Gala a truly inspirational gathering.

If you weren't able to attend, please enjoy the recorded segments below.

They say drops make an ocean and this was truly the picture of the support we received. One of our very favorite supporters is Joe. He is retired and has limited means but every few months he sends several $1 bills to Mona, carefully wrapped in a piece of paper, and placed in an envelope secured with tape to make sure it reaches us safely. We celebrate each time we receive his contributions as we know it is the purity of hearts of those like Joe that sustains Mona's work. We are deeply grateful to Joe and many others like him because for us every dollar counts and every dollar goes a long way.

We support 23 projects in 14 countries and 95% of students we support come from families earning less than $2/day. Here is a listing of the cost to educate one child in different countries:

  • $5/month educates a child in Vietnam
  • $7/month educates a child in India (one room schools)
  • $11/month educates a child in Colombia
  • $29/month educates and empowers a village girl in India to become a certified tailor and open her own business.
  • $50/month educates a child in Haiti, Brazil, and Panama

Mona's work has always been about empowering individuals through education so that each can become a source of social good and help build a more equitable world for all. Each of us can be a catalyst in this work. Every donation has impact.
