Peter Neumann

International Arbiter, Mediator, Law Professor


Peter Neumann is an international arbitrator, mediator, and Adjunct Professor of Law at Pepperdine Caruso School of Law’s Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, with over 25 years of experience in cross-border corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment, and dispute resolution. Fluent in Chinese and with more than 20 years of in-country legal practice in China, he brings a culturally informed and strategic perspective to U.S.–China business relations. Peter has held senior roles in both private practice and corporate law, including founding and managing offices for major international firms in Shanghai and Los Angeles, and serving as Vice President and Asia Pacific General Counsel for Celanese Corporation and Deputy General Counsel – Asia for Ares Management. He currently leads Neumann PC and serves on the mediator panel of The Center for Conflict Resolution, while also chairing the CIArb Los Angeles Chapter. His global legal expertise and dedication to education and social impact align closely with Mona Foundation’s mission to promote equity through learning.
