Every step we take moves Mona Foundation closer to its goal of gender equality and education for all. That’s why I am choosing to take on the 5K walk/run challenge. And I would like to invite you to help. Participating is good for the heart, whether you’re physically doing the steps, or supporting them with a donation. You can Move4Mona when you:

During the pandemic, the challenges have been particularly difficult. Yet Mona Foundation remains committed to supporting its 19 partners in 12 countries to fight COVID-19, provide essential supplies, and further education by whatever means available – including cell phones, WhatsApp, and online instruction.

My challenge will start today so please join me and make your Move4Mona today.

WHAT YOUR FUNDS CAN SUPPORT? (Remember that 100% of every dollar donated helps to transform lives and communities)

My campaign supports Badi school, Panama.  I visited this this school in 2019 and I loved what I saw.   Badi School started in 1993 as a kindergarten in the carport of a trailer home. The school is now a K-12 school serving 450 students, of whom 57% are girls. Badi is recognized for excellence in academics, arts, music and technology programs impacting the lives of thousands in the neighboring communities.

Despite their disadvantaged backgrounds, Badi School students have consistently earned the highest scores in national exams, won awards in the arts and film and have been accepted at prestigious universities in Panama and the U.S., many with scholarships because of their excellent academic record and history of community service.  It costs $50/month to educate one child at Badi SchoolAll funds raised through this campaign will support scholarships for students in need for Badi School.

About Mona Foundation

We support grassroots initiatives that provide education to all children, increase opportunities for women and girls, and emphasize service to the community.

The schools that we support serve marginalized communities globally. They focus on academic excellence, fine arts and character education to develop capable, ethical, and altruistic leaders who contribute to the betterment of their families, communities, and ultimately their nation.  In 2017 we supported the education of 258,000 students, teacher and parents in 18 projects in 10 countries.

We focus our support on these three areas:

  1. Access – We work with local organizations who know best how to meet the needs of their communities through providing access to education by building classrooms or providing scholarships.
  2. Empower Women & Girls – We believe that empowering women has multiplier effects and benefits all.  Women spend 90% of their earned income on their family and directly impact the economic growth of their communities.
  3. Teacher Training – We emphasize and support teacher training to ensure a high quality of learning and commitment to service.
