Pleased to make this contribution in honor of my father.
A great uncle, a great man!
He was such a fine gentle man.
Remembering a life dedicated to service and educationAll funds raised in loving memory of Dr. Ali Tavangar will be spent on educational projects of Mona Foundation. Dr. Ali Tavangar was a lover of knowledge and an educator. He was born in Najafabad, a small town in Iran in 1915. His love of learning propelled him to pursue his education wherever possible, culminating in a doctorate degree in literature from the University of Tehran. Before pursuing his graduate studies, he was employed as a teacher in public schools, but was dismissed because of his religious beliefs. He then volunteered to teach children in a remote village, where there were no schools. Later in life, he was a professor at Jondishapour University in Southern Iran. Having personally experienced the value of education, Dr. Tavangar dedicated his entire life to teaching children and young adults. He believed in the Baha’i Faith and was a member of a number of institutions that served the Baha’i community of Iran. Dr. Tavangar was a poet and an author of several books and numerous scholarly articles. Above all, he is remembered by his family and friends as a wise, kind, humble, and gentle soul, with a deep commitment to social justice and the principle of oneness of humanity.
We support grassroots initiatives that provide education to all children, increase opportunities for women and girls, and emphasize service to the community.
The schools that we support serve marginalized communities globally. They focus on academic excellence, fine arts and character education to develop capable, ethical, and altruistic leaders who contribute to the betterment of their families, communities, and ultimately their nation. In 2017 we supported the education of 258,000 students, teacher and parents in 18 projects in 10 countries.
We focus our support on these three areas:
