Payam Akhavan, an international human rights champion and Professor of International Law at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.  He is a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague and a designated arbitrator at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes of the World Bank Group. He was the Legal Advisor to the Prosecutor’s Office of the International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda and has worked with the UN on human rights violations in Cambodia, Guatemala, and Timor Leste.
