“Nothing is more impactful or sustainable than giving the gift of education to another.”
Duy-Loan Le, Mona Foundation Board Member.
On October 21, close to 200 people came together at the Museum of History and Industry in Seattle to celebrate Mona and raise funds to support our partner initiatives through the end of the year. The event raised more than $80,000, allowing us to continue to give support to our educational initiatives.
At the event, guest speaker Sue Puzo shared stories about Haitian culture and Anís Zunúzí and Georges Marcellus schools. Oscar Nuñez, our emcee and auctioneer for the nigh was wildly entertaining. Board Members Mahnaz Javid and Duy-Loan Le inspired us all when they shared a bit about their pasts and accomplishments, and encouraged us to consider why it is so important that we increase access to education for women and children. Our Annual Gala Celebration helped get us closer to our 2016 funding goal of providing $800,000 in support to 13 partner projects around the world.
We at Mona would like to extend a thanks to all those who attended, donated, and made the event possible...we couldn't do what we do without you!
Didn't get a chance to attend? Check out our Upcoming Events to see if there is an event near you! Don't see one? Consider creating an event of your own. Educate your family and friends about the importance of education when it comes to fighting for gender equality, community development, and economic stability, and help us reach our goal of $800,000 by the end of the year.
