Adib Bam Scholarship Established

Adib Bam
Family Starts Scholarship in Boy's Memory

By Jason Kandel, Staff Writer, Los Angles Daily News, 11/27/04

Here is the powerful story of a new scholarship named after a generous young child. Adib Bam was just 7 when he collected $290 for breast cancer research, going door-to-door through his Encino neighborhood as part of a fund-raising project at Woodcrest Elementary School. He also had a side project — collecting children's books he planned to send to needy children in Africa. But the books were never sent. Adib died Nov. 23, when an electrical fire ripped through his house — also destroying the 150 books he'd collected. Now, his family, wounds still fresh from the loss of their "Student of the Month," has set up a scholarship for poor children around the world in his memory. Story

Running in the Chicago Marathon
to Raise Funds

Megan Horan ran in the Chicago Marathon to raise funds for Ruaha. Megan, a wonderful supporter of the Mona Foundation for several years, travelled to Honduras twice with her mother and spent several weeks at the Tierra Santa home. Asking this year about the needs for the schools, she was guided to do something to support Ruaha. She enlisted six friends and co-workers to join her. She raised $5,000 with her run. Story

Melody and Manaji Offer Wedding Gifts

Dr. Manaji Suzuki, who has served the Mona Foundation with such love over the years, including several trips to the Ngobe-Bugle region of Panama and the Tierra Santa orphanage in Honduras to provide medical services, is getting married in June 2006 and has graciously chosen to ask her wedding guests to donate their gifts to Mona Foundation.

Melody Kulp, a lover of the Mona Foundation, has joyously sent gift cards to all those who will attend her wedding in May 2006, requesting that they provide donations to the Mona Foundation in lieu of gifts to the bride and groom. It takes a precious love to offer so generously on one's own most special of occasions.

Thank you dear friends, and may your generosity be rewarded a hundred fold in years to come.
