This social studies field trip site allows students to search and investigate sites for possible field trips. By searching a database for the "location", i.e. city, county, and "type" of field trip, students can enhance a social studies unit.

This website has good descriptions of sites for students to choose. It also has links to "study buddy" which has an index of helpful activities, i.e. maps, encyclopedia.

Some links are created by elementary schools, and others are created by National Geographic and Discovery.com. You have to be careful to check the links for accuracy and authorship. Lesson plans for teachers and even a satellite view students can manipulate to see how their homes look from space.
