Ruaha Secondary School Scholarships
2007 Children Helping Children
The students of Filer Middle School in Idaho were active this year and the previous year raising money for scholarships. They held a book drive to contribute $500 towards raising the social and economic status of children in underprivileged areas and earmarked this offering for a Ruaha scholarship. The students say they are grateful for the service work that we can help Mona Foundation do for children. It is so beautiful to think that children are being taught the value of such kindness and service to others. Mona Foundation is indeed most grateful to the students of Filer Middle School.
Adib Bam Scholarship
In 2005 a wonderful family who lost their 7 year old son in a house fire established a scholarship in his name, the ADIB BAM scholarship. This wonderful family has now designated both ADCAM and Ruaha as the recipients of two scholarships each for two children for the duration of their schooling through high school graduation. What a wonderful gesture to make in their son's name!
Honoring Asian Victims
We have had a very moving contribution for Ruaha with the following note in view of recent world disasters: "Absorbing the horrifying news about the Asian earthquake and the ensuing tidal waves made us even more appreciative of the wonderful service Mona Foundation is providing for the future of humanity. While we should devote much resources to the victims of this tragedy and their short term needs, it is equally important not to forget the long term and to do what we can for future generations of disadvantaged citizens of the earth. The assistance that Mona Foundation provides to such disadvantaged brothers and sisters through education will give them a better chance to confront adversities and improve their lives and the lives of the people around them for many generations to come. Enclosed pease find my check for five female students to attend the Ruaha Secondary School for the coming year. The funds are sent in the name of those who didn't have a chance, the victims of the Asian disaster."
2002–4 Scholarships
Grants for 34 scholarships were provided in 2002. Additional scholarship grants were also provided in 2003 and 2004.
2001 Scholarships
Following the receipt of a proposal for expansion and development, and a week long site visit in February 27 by Mahnaz Javid on behalf Foundation's Board, we now have added this wonderful high school to the list of the educational initiatives we support. We are initiating our work at this school by establishing a scholarship fund of $1,000, which will benefit the following students: Ola Jahanpour – Form IV girl, Gaudencia Bumela – Form II girl, and Rai Sailale – Form II Boy.
