Ruaha Organizational Structure

The National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Tanzania:

Responsible for establishing the central goals of the school; for guiding and supervising its development; for approving the school budget; and for recommending the appointment of the Principal and Policy Committee to the Universal House of Justice. As owner of the school, the National Spiritual Assembly is the liaison with the Universal House of Justice over all matters affecting the development of the school.

The Government of Tanzania, Ministry of Education and Culture:

Licenses the school; establishes laws and guidelines governing running of private schools and monitors their implementation, approves curriculum, sets national examinations, approves and appoints Board of Governors.

The Policy Committee:

Appointed by the National Spiritual Assembly. Oversees the school's operation and establishes policy for the school within the framework of guidance provided by the National Spiritual Assembly. Establishes and monitors execution and achievement of goals and plans. Authorized to establish committees and appoint committee members as needed to assist in the execution of its duties. May make recommendations to the National Spiritual Assembly regarding appointment of Policy Committee members and the school Principal. Approves recruitment and dismissal of expatriate Baha'i volunteer staff.

Board of Governors:

Appointed by the Ministry of Education and Culture to review and make recommendations to the owner regarding management of the school, ensures staff are employed in accordance with legal requirements and has the power to dismiss pupils. Ensures that legal requirements are being met including financial record keeping. Advises the Principal regarding the management of the school. Reviews and approves budgets and school fees.

Is appointed by the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Tanzania to manage the school. Recommends goals and policies, supervises teaching and non-teaching staff, recommends and monitors budgets and ensures that the school is run according to legal requirements of the government of Tanzania and Baha'i principles.

Office of the Principal:

The Principal's Office shall include the following positions all of which support the Principal in carrying out the role of management of the school and hence form a management team: Vice-Principal, Finance Officer, Administrative Officer, Cashier, Secretary, Messenger/Cleaner, Gardener.

Administrative Committee:

The Administrative Committee is responsible to consult on all matters regarding the management and administration of the school and to advise the Principal. This Committee shall consist of the Principal, Vice-Principal and Finance officer representing the Principal's Office; and of the Coordinators of each of the six major departments: Staff Affairs, Student Affairs, Academic, Moral Education, Construction and Maintenance, Projects.

Institute of Baha'i Affairs:

The Institute of Baha'i Affairs is responsible to review all aspects of school life including policies, curriculum, extracurricular activities, residential life, Baha'i scholarship provisions, etc. to ensure that a progressively Baha'i atmosphere is established in the school and to give recommendations to the Principal.

Staff Affairs Department:

Responsible to review and make recommendations regarding all matters pertaining to staff. Shall include the Staffing Committee and the Staff Welfare Committee.

Student Affairs Department:

Responsible for all matters pertaining to students except academic performance, i.e. discipline and counseling, extracurricular activities, sports, and residential life. To include the Discipline Coordinator, Residential Life Coordinator, Sports Coordinator, Self-Reliance Coordinator, Student Council and Hostel and Discipline Committee. Duty teachers and punishment supervisors also are under this department.

Education and Moral Education Department:

Responsible for ensuring that all academic requirements are met and to set goals and implement decisions to constantly improve the academic results of students. Further responsible to ensure that moral education curriculum is developed and taught either through existing subjects or separately and for the coordination of religion classes and morning devotions. This Department includes two Coordinators - Academic and Moral Education, an Assistant Academic Coordinator and the Heads of Department of Languages; Mathematics and Physics; Natural Sciences; Social Sciences and Agriculture. All teachers and class teachers are under this Department.

Construction and Maintenance Department:

Responsible for the maintenance of all existing buildings, grounds and facilities and for the construction of new facilities as directed by the administration. This Department includes the Construction and Land Management Committee and workers including construction and maintenance workers and guards.

Projects Department:

This department is responsible for the development and management of social and economic development projects, i.e. dairy, computer project, agricultural project. The department will include the Farm Manager, Dairy Committee and Computer Coordinator as well as coordinators of any future projects established.
