Welcome to Our Office
We at the Northern California office are actively reaching out to the greater community and businesses to share the Mona Foundation's goals. We are also actively looking for more volunteers to join our team. As of today we have four full time volunteers and hope to grow to seven by months end. Kaylin Gundry is our new assistant to the director.
We are continuing our fundraising activities with events but also hope to start a campaign of seeking grants from corporations and businesses to support the Foundation as part of their annual contributions. We are planning to finish the 2007 year with another exciting fundraiser, stay tuned!
Our goal is to help the children of the Mona Foundation in hopes that children all over the world are educated and have a better tomorrow.
Luncheon and Silent Auction Raises $10,000!
On Saturday August 18, 2007 the Northern California office of the Mona Foundation held a fundraising luncheon and a silent auction in Moraga, CA. Our guest list was a great success as our attendance was higher than we had anticipated. Many generous supporters came to hear Dr. Mahnaz Aflatooni Javid speak about the generous work that the Mona Foundation is doing around the world. Mahnaz spoke of Mona and how the foundation was established in her memory, she spoke of Ferial in Brazil who started work with ADCAM which has now grown into a much larger organization. Mahnaz's speech brought guests to tears and moved them to act on behalf of the women and children that Mona supports.
The silent auction was a fun and exciting way for people to give back. Thanks to the local individuals and businesses that gave generously of items for the auction, we were able to make this even a greater success. We auctioned off various types of items, from a handmade Persian rug, spa skin care package, perfume and chocolates. Local businesses were kind enough to gift us with small items that we used to create goodie bags (coffee from Starbucks®, coffee mugs, pens, perfume and Mona donation cards) for all who came. A delicious lunch with three options of entree's was offered at Mondello’s Cucina Italiana, followed by a very Italian Tiramisu dessert.
With 31 guests in attendance and many people offering their support from afar we were able to raise $10,000.00 for the Mona Foundation after our lunch expenses were met. Many thanks to Charlotte Chapman and my dear assistant Kaylin Gundry who stepped up and made this event a great success.
Regional Office Guidelines
Mona Foundation support of its adopted projects contributes to a process through which people of all nations become the protagonists of their own development and learn how to direct their own affairs. Mona Foundation Regional Offices are established in order to build the Foundation's infrastructure for growth and hence increase the circle of the Foundation's friends in support of these projects. These offices are considered the regional agencies of the Foundation and are governed by these guidelines
An Office shall be established in an area where a strong nucleus of Mona Foundation supporters already exists, and at which a core team of supporters have demonstrated their commitment and support of the Foundation goals through a variety of activities.
Each Office shall be guided by the same mission, guiding principles, goals, objectives and all other policies of the Mona Foundation reflected in its legal documents, and as outlined by the IRS code for 501 (c) (3) organizations includ- ing adherence to all necessary accounting procedures that assure legally binding accountability and transparency.
The Office shall have a Director, appointed by the Board of Directors, who will hold the responsibility of managing the daily operation of the Regional Office. The Director is responsible to the Board of Directors of Mona Foundation and works directly with the President in execution of its various activities. The Director works with its core team (selected by the Director) to devise an annual plan for the Office, outlining its scope of activities and goaals in support of the Mona Foundation’s adopted projects.
