Progress at one of our partner schools in Haiti

Following the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti, New Horizon School in rural Cabaret redoubled its efforts to increase its capacity to admit more students. They set their sights on a five-year development plan to build an educational complex to provide K-12 and technical education for 1,200 children and a base to offer professional culinary training to women and girls from the surrounding villages to help them increase family income.

We are very happy to announce that they have recently completed 12 primary grade classrooms and are nearing completion on four new classrooms and toilets. Next to be constructed is a dining hall and kitchen to provide meals for the children and a facility for the culinary vocational training.

To add to the excitement, New Horizon has made a partnership with the #1 vocational training center in Haiti to help them prepare curriculum and to provide technical certification for their program. This kind of diploma vastly increases opportunity for employment for their graduates.

We want to thank all of you that have supported the New Horizon School and made these improvements possible.  If you would like to make a contribution to the New Horizon School now, you can do so here.  Thank you!
