SAT Curriculum Translation is Needed

Translation and Revision of New Materials (from Spanish to Portuguese) which are produced by FUNDAEC for the “Impulsor” and “Technical” levels has been adopted by Mona Foundation as a goal for this year.

For ten years, ADCAM has administered the SAT Program for rural tutorial learning in the area of the town of Iranduba, Brazil, offering the surrounding rural population the possibility of completing basic education without having to leave their own communities, and promoting local development processes and community well-being. During this time ADCAM, in conjunction with FUNDAEC, the creators of the SAT Program, have provided this area access to didactic material, supervision for accompaniment of the process. Additionally, ADCAM used its own resources (through contracts with sister institutions that support social programs for the interior of the Amazon) to translate and adapt the earlier SAT materials from Spanish to Portuguese to make them accessible for the rural Amazon population.

The translation of the new SAT materials will build on the successes already achieved with earlier materials and allow the next level of education for the involved students to take charge of their own learning and community development. The “Impulsor” level contains 17 sections of approximately 900 pages. The “Technical” level contains 25 sections of approximately 1200 pages.

The SAT materials are used in nine rural communities in the area of Iranduba, Amazonas, Brazil; and with the students of the Masrour Vocational School (approximately 600 students); and with the students of the Pre-Youth Project (approximately 300 disadvantaged street children).

Budget for SAT Translations: $10,000 is the Mona Foundation goal.
