Two New Science Labs are Needed
ADCAM's academic community (including students, teachers, parents and the administration) feel that a science laboratory is crucial to continue offering a high-quality and effective education. A lab would allow the theoretical understanding acquired in the various classroom curricula to be tested by students under the supervision of teachers and give them practical experience to help develop their various capacities.
One of the guiding principles of ADCAM's educational efforts is independent investigation of truth. To enact this vision, ADCAM uses a method of “theory-practice-theory” where theory learned in the classroom is tested in practice and the results are reflected on to further improve the theory. Eventually, this continual learning cycle is translated to practical efforts in community service.
This project will benefit a significant number of students involved in ADCAM's academic programs including:
- Masrour Vocational School – 653 students
- Tahirih College of Education – 274 students
- Rural Polytechnic Institute – 250 students
- Pre-Youth Program – 300 students
- Masrour Technology Institute – 168 students
The majority of the cost for the science lab (approximately 75%) is permanent equipment and therefore, a one-time expense. ADCAM has the means in its current budget to maintain this equipment. About 25% of the equipment is supplies like chemicals and glassware that will be replaced annually and ADCAM's current budget can absorb this annual cost as well. The day to day maintenance of the lab will be maintained by the students and student teachers in ADCAM’s programs.
Total Budget for the Project: $47,000
